Built in the 1930s replacing an existing Royal Oak, this former Ind Coope house has been the Horse and Barge followed by the current name then a period as the St James in Cowley before reverting to the Grand Union. Internally a much renovated pub with new rear conservatory restaurant. Seating in the bar area is mostly sofas and comfy chairs with low tables. Re-opened on 8 December 2017 after renaming and another major refurbishment. Now run as a gastropub, Note the half pint price for Pride is £3 whilst a pint is £4.50.
