- Wetherspoon Real Ale Wednesday

The Wetherspoon chain has recently introduced a real ale discounted price on Wednesdays on guest ales. Note CAMRA vouchers are no accepted on this day on guests.
Guest ale prices in some of the Branch pubs on Wednesday are as follows:-

- The Questors Theatre, Grapevine Club

Hot off the back of one Beer Festival, here is another. The Questors Theatre Grapevine Club will be holding a mini beer festival over the second weekend of Ealing BEAT (Borough of Ealing Art Trail).
What do they mean by mini? There will be a rotating number of up to eight beers on four of the five hand pumps and two cider on the remaining hand pump.
The Grapevine will announce the beer list once the casks are securely received into the cellar. The club have said there are a wide range of styles being ordered, from Porters to Pale, through IPA and Best Bitter!
CAMRA members are welcome to attend as affiliate members of The Grapevine Club.
- Whitbread closes Beefeaters

The Beefeater pub/restaurants the Grapes and the generically named ones in Uxbridge and Hayes suddenly closed on Thursday.
Whitbread had previously announced plans to sell 126 of its less profitable branded "restaurants", with 21 sales already having gone through. This would see the loss of 1,500 jobs.
The company is quoted as saying the closures :- "...will increase our profits and returns ... we also need to think about our shareholders. "
- Tichenham reopens

Following a short close the Ickenham pub has reopened. It is no longer run by Wetherspoon but by a group who run a collection of "Irish Pubs" in North West London. Greene King Abbot is currently sold along with four other real ales. Sports TV has been installed and there are stools at the bar. - Kings Arms in Hanwell reopens

- Two more Acton pubs close

Both the Aeronaut and the Belvedere on Acton High Street closed in the last few weeks. They were leased by Laines and Stonegate respectively. By coincidence(?) the freehold of both properties are for sale. Details can be found on the Pubs for sale page of the London Region website. The premises license of the Belvedere is being transferred to Titan Realty Limited. This is believed to be a property company who buy and sell real estate.
- WASPS to run 3rd Beer Festival

This March, Wasps FC in Acton are going to be hosting their annual Beer Festival across the weekend of the 15th-17th March.
CAMRA members are very welcome! They have created special offers whereby any CAMRA member that purchases a standard ticket £3 will get a free pint on arrival and any member that buys a VIP ticket £15 will receive 4 Pints, 1 Burger, a commemorative cup and a programme!

The certificate was presented by our Branch cider officer Stephen Gilmour to co-owner of the Owl a& The Pussycat Paul Nock on the 23 October. A clearly delighted Paul said how much he appreciated the award. The micropub serves upto 10 real cider and perries. - Wetherspoon opens new pub at Terminal 4

The Star Light replaced Carluccio’s on 2 October in the airside departure lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4. The pub company has operated many pubs at Heathrow over the years but currently the only other is the Crown Rivers at Terminal 5.On 6 December 1945 Donald Bennett landed the first civil aircraft (a 13 seat Avro 691 Lancastrian), named Star Light (similar to the airplane pictured).
“We are looking forward to opening The Star Light. “We have operated units at Heathrow Airport since 1991 and are proud of our association with one of the world’s largest airports.” said John Hutson, Wetherspoon chief executive.
